Law enforcement is investigating rumors of “predicted violence” at Troup High School Monday, according to a Troup County School System press release.
TCSS said that school officials are working with law enforcement to determine the source of the rumor, but at this time there is no credible threat.
“We will continue to work with law enforcement to investigate,” the press release said. “Additional security measures have been implemented at the school. At this time there is no credible threat. As always the safety of our students and staff is our first concern.”
TCSS Public Relations Director Irisha Goodman said a 19-year-old picking up their sibling did walk into the school this morning with a gun, setting off the metal detectors, but that is a separate issue and not believed related to the threat. That 19-year-old was arrested.
