GRANTVILLE — Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith announced Wednesday night that his agency arrested two more people suspected in the home invasion and assault of an elderly woman whom assailants set on fire Aug. 4 in the 7700 block of Forrest Road.
The victim suffered multiple lacerations and several broken bones, said the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office. She was airlifted to an Atlanta hospital for treatment.
The sheriff’s department and other agencies have arrested a total five people believed to be connected to the home invasion and a prior theft of the same victim’s purse on Aug. 2.
Mina Christine Ellery and Angel Latrice Harmon, both 17 and of Newnan, face charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, armed robbery, attempted arson, burglary and battery. In the Aug. 2 theft, Ellery and Harmon face charges of burglary, financial transaction card theft and identity theft.
They were being held in jail without bond.
“Our investigators and supporting agencies have continued to track down the remaining leads and interview additional witnesses/suspects related to this case investigation,” said Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith in a press release. “… We have also recovered the vehicle that was used in both of these incidents, and it has been impounded for processing. Based on our investigation we have all of the suspects in custody related to both of these incidents.”
Newnan police assisted in Ellery’s and Harmon’s arrests, the news release states.
Arrested earlier this week were Justin Peirce Grady, 38, and Cortavious Deshun Heard, 18, both of Grantville, and Shanquavious Keontrell Cameron, 17, of Hogansville.
