Jim L. Yancey, of Greenville, passed away on Nov. 10, 2023.

He was born in Hartford, Connecticut on Sept. 7, 1941, to the late Roscoe B. Yancey and Hilda Weldon Yancey.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Yancey was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Yancey, Jr., his granddaughter, Courtney Yancey, and his sister, Ann Atwater.

Mr. Yancey was a devoted family man and avid outdoorsman. He retired after a 42-year career with CSX Transportation.

Mr. Yancey is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Dawn Yancey; his daughters, Cynthia Mayfield (Bubba), Kim Griffin (Chris), and Melissa Garber (Andy); his grandchildren, Jessica Mayfield, Matt Mayfield (Lesley), Blake Yancey (Haley), Ben Griffin, and Erin Griffin; and his great-grandchildren, Claire Mayfield, Karter and Evey Yancey, and Marlee and Maycee Cofield.

The funeral service was held at Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter-Allen-Myhand on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, at 1 P.M.

The family received friends from Noon until service time on Tuesday.

Dr. Paul Baxter and Reverend Paul Blair officiated the service.
