The preliminary report from Georgia State Patrol has a log truck at fault in a crash that involved a Troup County School System bus Thursday.
The preliminary information says a Blue 2005 Mack 600 log truck was traveling south on Pegasus Parkway and disobeyed a traffic control device, entered the intersection and struck the bus that was traveling west on State Route 14. The crash happened just before 4 p.m.
The Blue Mack 600 overturned in the intersection losing its load of logs and as a result of the load being lost, the logs rolled into a Black 2019 Honda Odyssey that was stopped at the intersection. The Troup County School Bus had four occupants on board at the time of the crash. One occupant of the school bus was transported to Wellstar West Georgia with minor injuries, along with the driver of the CMV. The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours during the investigation.
The Troup County School System called the accident “major” and said two students were sent to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
