The Callaway baseball team is on fire. On Thursday, the Cavaliers blew out Towers 15-1 to win their seventh straight game.
The Cavaliers put four runs past Towers in the first to take a comfortable lead before blowing the game open with seven in the second to take an 11-0 advantage. Callaway added two more runs in each of the next two innings and Towers could manage just the one in the bottom of the fourth as the game finished early due to the mercy rule.
Bryce Hubbard and Julian Dukes led the war for the offense as they were both 2-for-2 with an RBI. Luke Taylor, Brantin Swanson, Brody Swanson, Lashun Gates and Junior Reeves all had a hit apiece. Gates also finished the game with three stolen bases.
Wesley Williams led the team with two RBIs while also scoring two runs as well.
Jackson Butts got the start on the mound for Callaway and was in complete control. He pitched all four innings while allowing just five hits and one earned run and six strikeouts.
Callaway (7-2) started off the season with two straight losses, but have responded with seven straight wins in which they’ve outscored opponents by 77 runs. The Cavaliers will host a doubleheader against Westminster on Saturday, weather permitting.
