After a tough 2-1 loss to soccer powerhouse McIntosh last time out, the LaGrange Grangers took out their anger on Riverdale, producing a 6-2 win in their region opener.
Riverdale opened the scoring with a goal early in the contest, but LaGrange withstood the storm and struck back when Cade Hollstrom dispatched a pass from Aidan Collins. Hollstrom grabbed his second in the 15th minute to give LaGrange a 2-1 lead.
The Raiders answered back with a goal, but the Grangers were able to retake the lead before half courtesy of freshman Giobani Ventura scoring off an assist from Hollstrom.
The Grangers added a fourth just before the break when Anthony Castillo teed up younger brother Elvis Castillo for a goal. Elvis finished with two assists to go along with his goal.
Anthony scored a goal of his own in the second half as did Jorge Roblero, who killed off the game late.
LaGrange is now 3-3 on the season with all three losses coming by a single goal. The Grangers will travel to take on Columbus on Friday for a non-region matchup.
