15 qualify on first day for May election, including three for sheriff

If the first day of qualifying is any indication, it’s going to be a competitive election season in Troup County.
On day one, three people qualified for sheriff, including incumbent James Woodruff. The primary will be held on May 21.
Here’s a look at who qualified on day one:
SHERIFF — Incumbent James Woodruff, Benjamin Turner, Ricky Ward
Woodruff and Turner are running as Republicans and would face off in May’s primary. Ward is an Independent.
CLERK OF SUPERIOR COURT — Incumbent Jackie Taylor, Nicole Gratton (both running as Republicans)
TAX COMMISSIONER — Incumbent Shane Frailey (R)
CORONER — None
SOLICITOR — Incumbent Sandra Taylor (R)
TROUP COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT 2 — James Thrailkill (R), Andrew Moody (D)
TROUP COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT 3 — None
TROUP COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT 4 — Incumbent Morris Jones, Phil Nations (both Republicans)
STATE COURT JUDGE — Incumbent Wesley Leonard (non-partisan)
PROBATE COURT JUDGE — Incumbent Debbie Wade (non-partisan)
TROUP COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION DISTRICT 2 — Incumbent Ferrell Blair (non-partisan)
