The Callaway girls shredded Columbia 12-1 for a comfortable region victory on the road Thursday.
Surprisingly, it was Columbia who opened the scoring with a goal in the opening minute of the game, but the Cavaliers settled down and had no issues from there.
Norma Trinidad leveled the game just seconds later with a goal before Isla Garcia gave Callaway a 2-1 lead three minutes later. It was just the start of a big night for Trinidad, a freshman, as she scored a hat trick and contributed an assist. She capped off her hat trick in the 44th minute with the final goal of the contest.
It was also another strong showing for senior Mary Kate Baswell. The midfielder scored a hat trick while providing an assist as well.
Aylin Ulloa, Lili Cook, K’mya Carter and Alice Potie all had a goal each for the Cavaliers.
Alayna Leithleiter, Trisha Patel, Hismary Composeco and Garcia all had an assist apiece.
Callaway has now won seven games in a row to improve to 9-4 overall and 5-0 in region play. The Cavaliers locked in a home playoff game with their victory. Callaway will return to action next Tuesday against Landmark Christian in a game that will decide the region title.
