Susannah Lynn is making her way to Point University. The talented Troup girls soccer player will be heading just up the road to find her new soccer home as she will be joining the Skyhawks in the fall.

“I always wanted to play in college but I didn’t really think it was possible until this year,” Lynn said. “I started feeling really confident in my skills this season.”

When the Tigers needed a goal, they put Lynn up top. When the Tigers needed a defensive presence to preserve a late lead, they put Lynn in defense. The versatility and willingness to adapt in any situation make the senior a future asset for the Skyhawks.

“I’ve watched her put in the work no matter what position I put her in,” Troup girls soccer coach Carolyn Harkness said. “She started out at defense, then I moved her up top and then she ended her senior season back on defense. It never mattered where I played Susannah she was going to play her heart out and give it her all.”

“It could be difficult when I would get switched mid-game,” Lynn said with a laugh. “I might start the game at defense and then go up top mid game and those require two completely different ways to play.”

Troup was up and down during Lynn’s time with the team, making the playoffs in her first two years and then missing the playoffs in last the two seasons, but through it all, Lynn was a steady presence on the field.

This her she was named a captain and had to serve as a real leader for a rebuilding Tigers team.

“I was captain alongside two of my best friends, so it was nice to share that responsibility together with them,” Lynn said. “It was hard at times to make sure I was always setting a good example for the younger girls.”

It will be a reunion on the soccer pitch at Point. Lynn will be partnering up once again with Troup alum class of ‘22 Allie Foster on the Skyhawks.

“I’ve played with Allie every year since I started playing with Troup during eighth grade except this year, so it is going to be really fun to get back on the field with her,” Lynn said. “When I played up top, she played at wing, so we used to combine together and it is going to be fun to do that again because we have good chemistry.”

Lynn will be staying close to home, an appealing prospect as her sister, Holly, plays softball at Columbus State and is happy to have her family close by to see her play.

“My sister is pretty close by and I’ve seen how much that has helped her as a college athlete and I decided if I wanted to play in college that I wanted my family close enough to come and see me play,” Lynn said. 

While her older sister found a home on the softball diamond and LaGrange High, neither was the place for Lynn. She feels at home on the soccer pitch with her fellow Tigers.

“Representing Troup High is something I will never forget,” Lynn said. “I played my last game with the team last night and it makes me so sad that it was the last time I would put on the Troup uniform.”
