A breast cancer survivor support group is coming to the Greater Valley Area thanks to a partnership between Team WHIP and Forge Breast Cancer Center. On April 13, the first support group for BC survivors and “co-survivors,” caregivers and family members of survivors, will be hosted at the Copper Carrot Bakery in West Point.
Saturday Speaks is a time for conversations and support for any local survivors and co-survivors over breakfast, beverages and baked goods. The event will start at 8 a.m. ET with a walk-through downtown from West Point Park. At 9 a.m. ET, participants will meet at the bakery for coffee, danishes and fellowship.
Free registration is available at teamwhip2015.com.
Members of Team WHIP recently took a day trip to the Forge Breast Cancer Center, which is one of their established partners. Team WHIP Founder Narfunda Ross said they took a tour of the facility and then shared survivor stories with members of Forge.
Later, Ross said Forge was looking to expand their support to the Greater Valley Area by sponsoring a support group in partnership with Team WHIP. Ross said the support group is very needed and wanted by survivors in the area.
Team WHIP is a local nonprofit organization that provides resources and hosts support events for breast cancer survivors and caregivers in the area.
The organization began as an annual breast cancer awareness walk for the West Point/Valley area. After the flood of support from local survivors, Ross expanded to offer more resources and awareness events.
