The LaGrange girls soccer team celebrated its five seniors — Sam Cottle, Karley Perry, Carlee Roland, Morgan Fausett and Jade Deleon — in the best way possible, beating Bremen 2-1 in come-from-behind fashion.
The Grangers huffed and puffed but could not break through in the first half. Sam Cottle had a few chances, including a header that went off the post in the 22nd minute.
The best chance in the first half for the Grangers came with just under eight minutes to go in first half as Perry’s volleyed shot was saved from close range by the Bremen goalkeeper.
The Blue Devils made LaGrange pay for its missed chances, opening the scoring with five minutes to go in the first half.
Perry had a chance to level the match just 35 seconds later, but her shot was saved once again.
The Grangers regrouped at half and Perry eventually tied the game up at a goal apiece in the early goings of the second half on an assist from fellow senior, Cottle. Perry almost grabbed her second minutes later to take the lead, but her tame shot was saved at the near post.
Perry was not done there as she cut back a picture-perfect pass in 68th min to a wide-open Cottle in the box, who dispatched it with a cool demeanor before pulling away to celebrate her senior night winner.
The Blue Devils had their chances late, including a free kick from just outside the box that was blasted into the wall.
Emma Maradik came through with five saves in a goal to help ensure the Grangers were victorious on a senior night.
LaGrange is now 8-7 overall on the season. The Grangers will be back in action on Friday at against East Coweta.
