Callaway went on the road Monday and took on Lamar County, earning a dominant 8–2 win.

The Cavaliers quickly opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with a pair of runs. Julian Dukes laid down a bunt and an error ensued that allowed the opening two runs to reach home.

The Cavaliers added to their lead with a run in the second courtesy of an RBI groundout from Brody Swanson.

Callaway made it 4-0 when Wesley Williams hit a one-run single in the top of the fourth inning.

An error allowed Bryce Hubbard to reach home in the fifth inning to make it 5-0.

Lamar County eventually broke through with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but it served as little more than a consolation. 

The Cavaliers got that run back and then some in the top of the seventh. Julian Dukes was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive home the first run of the inning. An error scored two more runs later in the inning to push the Callaway lead out to 8-1.

Lamar County added another run in the seventh, but the rally fell well short.

Brantin Swanson got the start on the mound and gave the Cavaliers a strong six innings in which he struck out six batters while allowing just four hits and one earned run. Slade Hunt pitched the final inning, slamming the door on any attempted rally. 

Hunt was superb from the plate as well, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Hubbard also had a strong offensive showing as he had two hits and two runs scored. Dukes, Williams, Lashun Gates and Blake Harrington all had a hit apiece for the Cavaliers. 

Callaway is now 17-6 on the season. The Cavaliers have already wrapped region play and will enter the 2A state playoffs as a two-seed, guaranteeing a home playoff series in the first round. Callaway will rematch Lamar County at home on Thursday.
