GAME TWO:

LAGRANGE – 15

BAINBRIDGE – 0

 

LaGrange put the hammer down early in game two to crush the spirits of the visiting team.

The Grangers stunned Bainbridge with eight runs in the top of the first. Rob Skinner hit a double to drive in the first two runs and get the Grangers off and running. Mason Calhoun hit a single later in the inning to drive in the following two runs. An error allowed the fifth and sixth runs to score. Another error allowed the final two runs of the inning to score.

LaGrange made it 9-0 in the following inning on a solo home run from Skinner. An error allowed LaGrange to score an additional run in the third inning and make it 10-0.

The Granger offense never slowed down and they put three more runs on the board in the top of the fourth. Calhoun doubled to drive home the first two runs of the inning. Malik Kemp brought a third run home in the inning on a sacrifice fly. 

LaGrange added two more runs in the fifth inning. Grady Westmoreland drove in one on a sacrifice fly and Jackson Bozeman brought home the final run of the series with a single.

Skinner was 3-for-3 with four runs scored and three RBIs. Calhoun also had a strong showing from the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Westmoreland and Cockrell had two hits each while Brandon Bennett had one.

Caden Wood was superb on the mound, pitching the first four innings in which he allowed just one hit on three strikeouts. Kayden Sutton pitched the final inning and slammed the door on the Bearcats season.

 

GAME ONE:

LAGRANGE – 12

BAINBRIDGE – 2

 

The Bearcats struck first so with a run in the top of the first inning, but the Grangers would not trail long with Grayson Cockrell hitting a one-run single in the bottom of the inning to put the teams back on level terms. Two batters later Cooper Stephens hit a no-doubter over the center field wall to put the Grangers up 3-1.

LaGrange blew the game open in the second inning with five runs. Tanner Langley smashed a double to left field to drive in a run. Langley scored later in the inning on an error for the Grangers’ fifth run of the game. Stephens continued his absolutely monster game by driving in two more runs in the inning with a double to put LaGrange up 6-1. Grady Westmoreland got in on the fun with a two-run single to make it 8-1 heading to the third inning. 

LaGrange did not slow down there, tacking on another run in the third when a ball allowed Langley to score.

The Grangers scored its final three runs in the fourth inning. Brandon Bennett drove in the first before Langley brought home two with a single.

The Bearcats got a run back in the top of the fifth inning, but the rally fell short and the mercy rule was triggered.

Langley and Stephens were both 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs to lead the LaGrange offense. Grady Westmoreland was also 3-for-3 and drove in two runs. Parker and Cockrell had two hits each while Bennett had one.

Parker pitched all five innings for LaGrange, striking out six while allowing just five hits and one earned run.

LaGrange will either travel to Wayne County or host Howard in the second round of the state playoffs starting next Wednesday.
