The race for the District 2 County Commissioner seat is headed for a runoff after only 25 votes separated the top two candidates.
Challenger James “Jamie” Thrailkill topped incumbent Commissioner Ellis Cadenhead in the Republican primary for the District 2 Troup County Board of Commissioners seat.
Thrailkill earned 984 (38.7%) in-person votes compared to Cadenhead’s 959 (37.7%). April Loftin finished third in the race, winning 602 (23.7%) votes.
With only absentee votes left to be counted Thrailkill is expected to face off against Cadenhead in a runoff on June 18, 2024.
