Troup High alum Noah Dixon has hit the ground running at Clemson University. The freshman got a head start, early enrolling in January, but was on hand last week to walk the stage alongside his beloved Tigers.

Dixon has been a full go in spring camp and has continued to get faster and stronger as he hits the state-of-the-art college facilities.

The former Troup Tiger strapped up his pads for the spring game in April and played for Team White in a 27-12 victory. Dixon got into the game and registered three total tackles and a pass breakup. The pass breakup came late in the fourth quarter to keep a touchdown off the board.

Dixon will be battling it out with some experienced safeties on the Clemson roster for playing time. Senior R.J. Mickens and sophomore Kylan Griffey figure to be the starters, but with Dixon’s play in the spring game, he could figure into the equation at safety at some point in 2024.

Dixon is a hard hitter who is not afraid to come down and thump people in the box by lowering his shoulder and using all of his 6’1, 190 lb. pound frame, but can also stick with speedy receivers in coverage.

One of the aspects that set Dixon out and made him such a coveted recruit for the class of ‘24 was Dixon’s impact on offense as well. He finished his senior season as the Troup’s leading receiver with 483 yards. He also added 182 rushing yards and 15 total touchdowns en route to an all-state selection. 

Dixon was rated as a four-star and the no. 35 safety in his class. He held offers from the likes of the University of Georgia, the University of Alabama and Notre Dame among a host of others, but committed to Clemson in January 2023 and never wavered.

Troup fans will have to get used to a new color scheme as Dixon trades in blue and gold for orange and purple. Dixon will also have a new number as the former no. 20 will be wearing no. 27 as a freshman.

The next few months will be packed to the brim with practicing and workouts for Dixon, but his first taste of college action could come sooner rather than later. Dixon could very well make his debut in The Peach State when Clemson takes on the University of Georgia in Atlanta on Aug. 31.
