Philip Clinton “Clint” Flynn, 59, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Union General Hospital in Blairsville, GA.

The funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Greenville Methodist Church with Rev. Jonathan Porter and Rev. Jeff McCartney officiating. Interment followed in the Greenville City Cemetery. The family received friends for visitation on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Cox Funeral Home – Manchester.

Philip Clinton “Clint” Flynn, Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia on May 17, 1965 to Philip C. Flynn and Hannah Meeks Flynn. Clint attended Greenville High School, graduatIng in the Class of 1983, and attended Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, GA becoming proficient to earn his license as a Georgia Registered Land Surveyor. While attending college he began working for Georgia Land Surveying Company in Sandy Springs and remained there for approximately 15 years until he opened P.C. Flynn Land Surveying Company after returning to Greenville. Clint owned and operated his business for twenty years before joining Camp and Associates Land Surveying, Inc. in LaGrange in 2016. He remained with Camp until his untimely passing.

In addition to his professional career as a respected Land Surveyor, Clint was an active and dedicated member of Greenville Methodist Church, where he faithfully served in a variety of leadership roles. He was a member of the choir, President of the Methodist Men’s Group, Finance Committee Chair, and member of the Board of Directors, as well as the Pastor Search Committee. He was a member of Greenville Masonic Lodge No. 321 and the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. He also served as Chairman of the Greenville Planning and Zoning Advisory Board.

Clint spent many years volunteering as “Coach Flynn” for various little league football and baseball teams. Clint’s greatest accomplishment was being a man of God who lived his life caring about others and never hesitated to show that compassionate side to those he encountered. He impacted countless lives and has left a massive void in the lives of his family, church, and community. Clint enjoyed the opportunities he and Sonya had to travel and explore together, attending concerts, and every moment he got to spend with his children and grandchildren. Clint was preceded in death by his father, Philip C. Flynn, Sr.

He is survived by his wife Sonya Gasses Flynn, of Greenville, GA, sons, Danny (Hillary) Flynn, Philip M. (Lauren McDaniel) Flynn, and daughter, Hannalee (Mitch) Becton, all of Manchester, GA. Three grandchildren Macallan and Elsie Flynn and Cooper Becton. In addition to his mother, Hannah Meeks Flynn, Clint also leaves behind three sisters, Laura (David) Gill, of Greenville, GA, Donna (JR) Henderson of Waverly, TN, and Robbi Bishop of Madison GA; sisters and brothers in law, Cy (Linda) Gasses, and Angela (Gary) Degler, along with a host of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews who adored “Uncle Clint.”

Serving as Pallbearers were John Gordon, David Fagundes, Clay Spitler, Chris May, Raymond “Champ” Phillips, and Mark Strozier. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Clint’s coworkers who are also special friends: Dennis Smith, David Gill (who has worked faithfully alongside Clint for 28 years), John Garrett, Mike Cook, and Alton Sivell.
