The newest clothing shop in LaGrange celebrated its grand opening on Saturday with a ribbon cutting.
Backend Business Apparel cut the ribbon on Saturday at its new brick-and-mortar location off of West Point Road.
For owner Ernest Pattillo the grand opening is years in the making. He said he has been working in the clothing industry for about four years.
“I started out embroidering my own clothes but now I use vendors,” Pattillo said.
Early on Pattillo sold his clothing online but he didn’t feel like he had enough inventory to fill a store until recently.
“I didn’t have the shop fully stocked with the inventory. Now I have men, women and kids clothing. At first, I was only doing unisex outfits,” he said.
Pattillo said he has been creating and selling clothing out of the location since 2020 but is holding the grand opening to celebrate the launch of the women’s and kid’s clothing lines.
Pattillo said he was inspired to begin creating clothing by his older brother, Deonte, who also has his own line of clothing, WellRounded.
The name of the clothing brand doesn’t reference anything anatomical or any other double entendre, so get your out of the gutter. It comes from the backend payment that performers receive after concerts. Essentially, it stands for money, he said.
The store specializes in what Pattillo called “streetwear.”
“It’s comfortable clothing that you can just wake up and throw on but still have a casual look,” Pattillo said.
“I’m excited about having a kid’s inventory. Not too many people have kid’s inventory. That’s who I want to cater to,” Pattillo said. “I have three of my own, so I like seeing them wear it.”
Backend Business is located at 2170 West Point Rd Suite 28 in LaGrange.
