Mrs. Rose Marie Mansour, 91, of Newnan passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Wesley Woods in Newnan Georgia.

She was born December 17, 1932, in Gulfport, Mississippi to the late Samuel G. Nohra and Rosalie Saab Nohra. She was the youngest of four children and the last surviving member of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Sam and Rosalie, her three brothers Samuel G. Nohra, Jr., Leon L. Nohra and Raymond A. Nohra, her husband James Elias Mansour and a son, Arthur David Mansour.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Gerard Mansour; daughter-in-law, Karen Elizabeth (Hechler) Mansour of Grantville; grandson, Ethan James Mansour of Luthersville; granddaughter Elizabeth Marie Mansour of Newnan and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rose Marie moved with her family to New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of thirteen. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy Catholic High School in 1952. She worked briefly for the Gulf Oil Corporation and graduated from the Estelle Compton Modeling School before meeting her future husband in the spring of 1953.

James and Rose Marie married on July 28, 1954, in New Orleans, La. and moved to Newnan, Ga. where they remained their entire lives. Together they started Newnan Dry Goods and eventually joined family members in Ellis Mansour’s Department Store.

She loved golf, playing cards, slot machines, knitting, traveling and cooking, but her greatest loves were her faith and her family, which she cherished immensely. She was a devoted member of St. George Catholic Church. She volunteered for many civic organizations, church bake sales, fundraising and children’s groups.

She was kind, generous, loyal, funny and faithful, but she also would be quick to offer “advise” if she felt you needed it.

She outlived everyone in her family and her husband’s family, and she carried the torch with pride as long as she could.

She was loved by many and will be missed by all. In her final days she always said, “when I die tell them I’m happy”.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Rose Marie’s doctors, nurses and caregivers. Especially Lighthouse Palliative Care Team and In Home Health Care Services.
