David Luther Railey of Bowdon, GA passed away on August 1, 2024.
David was born in Lagrange, GA on November 23, 1937 to Luther Cary Railey and Eunice Crawford Railey.
He proudly served his country for 6 years as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, VA during the late 50’s and early 60’s.
After his term in the Navy, he moved back to Lagrange, met and married the love of his life and began to raise a family. He attended church regularly and actively served God by running a bus ministry for many years.
He loved his family unconditionally and instilled good morals and values in all of those who knew him.
He was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Braves.
David was known for his plethora of nicknames, relentless wit, and a firm faith in Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents Luther and Eunice Railey, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, his wife, Dorothy Carol Railey, and two grandchildren, Matthew Hunter Huey and William Matthew Waters-McManus.
He was affectionately known as “Daddy” to his four daughters: Dianne Heard (Bryant), Anne Daniel (Anthony), Louise Howard (Gene), and Jimmie Cook (Jerry), and “Paw Paw” to his 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and one great- great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at High Point Church of God located at 8485 Frolona Road Franklin GA for family and friends on August 17, 2024 at 4pm. Family will receive visitors from 3 PM-4PM.
