After the game was rained out on the original day and location of Barron Stadium on Friday, Callaway football finally hit the gridiron on Saturday night, falling 42-7.

This game has seen a plethora of changes since it was originally scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m. 

The game was rescheduled to Friday at 7:30 before moving to Saturday at 6 p.m. at Callaway Stadium and eventually to 8 p.m. on Saturday which is when the game officially kicked off.

The Colonels put a marker down early, marching the opening possession right down the field, converting three fourth downs in the process, and punching it into the end zone to go up 6-0 after using up almost eight minutes off the clock.

The Cavaliers quickly went three-and-out and Cass once again marched right down the field, scoring on a 47-yard rushing touchdown to go up 13-0.

The first play on the ensuing possession for Callaway resulted in a 47-yard interception return for a touchdown. This gave Cass a 19-0 lead with the Cavaliers having run just four offensive plays from scrimmage.

The Colonels scored on a 5-yard touchdown run to push their advantage up to 26-0 with 2:45 left to go in the first half.

Callaway did not get its first first down of the game until the 2:30 mark of the second quarter. The Cavalier offense finally came together, driving down the field and finding the end zone just before the half when Blake Harrington connected on a 4-yard touchdown pass to Xae Anderson.

The Cavaliers had a chance to get back in the game to start the second half. Callaway drove down the field on the first possession of the third quarter, getting into the red zone, but ultimately turning it over on downs on the Cass 14-yard line.

The Colonels would make them pay, scoring a touchdown late in the third quarter on a short touchdown pass to go up 33-6 and all but put the game to rest.

Callaway will fall to 0-1 to start the season. The Cavaliers will have a bye week next Friday before returning to action on the road to Opelika (AL) on Aug. 30.
