This week and next week, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office is hosting the 80 hour Use of Force Instructor Training Course which is taught by the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC). The course is designed to give the students the knowledge and skills necessary to design, develop, and implement use of force training using static, dynamic, and interactive training and focuses on use of force issues that correlate with the Fourth Amendment, Fourteenth Amendment, and Eighth Amendment.

The class, which was coordinated by Captain Nathan Taylor, has eight students representing the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, the Hogansville Police Department, Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Public Safety Training Center.

“In today’s society, there is much discussion over law enforcement utilization of force. Having training like Use of Force Instructor provided by GPSTC and brought to our agencies is crucial for the betterment of our law enforcement officer and the public as a whole,” said Captain Nathan Taylor.
