UPDATE: Teen killed in Montrose Way shooting

Troup County Sheriff’s Investigators and the Coroner’s Office have confirmed that the victim in the Montrose Way shooting has passed away.
The victim was identified by the Coroner’s Office as 16-year-old Kyren Johnson who was shot in the chest and killed on Wednesday afternoon.
When deputies and other first responders arrived at the scene Johnson was unresponsive. They immediately began life-saving procedures including CPR on the victim. Once an ambulance arrived, he was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
Deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the shooting incident Wednesday afternoon. The shooting reportedly occurred at a home in the 100 block of Montrose Way around 4:22 p.m.
The victim was transported to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center but the teen was declared deceased shortly after arrival.
This is still an active investigation by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.
