UPDATE: Student arrested for school shooting threat

LaGrange Police have arrested the individual believed to be responsible for the TCSS shooting threat that has been circulating on social media.
A 15-year-old male juvenile was arrested Monday afternoon after police were able to connect him with the threats.
According to LaGrange Police Public Information Officer Jeremy Butler, the undisclosed juvenile is a local student. The juvenile is currently being processed and will be charged with 11 felony counts of making terroristic threats.

LaGrange Police and the Troup County Sheriff’s Office are investigating social media post threatening Troup County Schools.
A social media post saying, “If you tired of school Imk I will be heading down to the troup county school and I will be shooting them up the school im heading for is Lagrange high school, Callaway hight [sic] school, Troup high school, Long Cane middle schoo [sic], Garden newman middle school, Callaway middle school, Clearview elementary, west point elementary, Ethel kight elementary school Rosemont elementary, Franklin forst [sic]” is under investigation.
Local law enforcement is aware of the social media post that has been shared multiple times.
Police say they have not received any credible threats to a specific campus, but they take these threats very seriously and are working to find the source of the post.
Troup County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Lt. Stewart Smith confirmed a sheriff’s investigator is working with LPD detectives to identify who made the original post.
“Since the tragedy in Barrow County last week, we had already increased patrols at our local schools and that will continue. Please talk to your kids about the importance of sharing information that they see or hear that is of concern,” LPD said in a press release.” “Should that person be located they will be arrested and charged to the full extent of the law of the State of Georgia.”
This incident is still under active investigation by the LaGrange Police Department and the Troup County Sheriff’s Office who are working side by side to address the issue.
