Lafayette Christian hit the road for the first time this season on Friday and put together a bounceback performance after their first loss of the season last week out. The Cougars toppled Holy Ground 38-16.
The Cougars came out of the gates firing on all cylinders. LCS scored 38 unanswered points to start the game.
It started early with David Karvelas connecting with Johnathon Ross for a touchdown. This was just the start of a monster quarter for Ross. He scored on defense later in the first, scooping up a fumble and taking it into the end zone to give the Cougars a 22-0 lead.
Ross was not done there, catching a 79-yard touchdown pass from Karvelas late in the first quarter to put the Cougars up 30-0.
Lafayette Christian got its final touchdown of the game early in the second quarter when Karvelas threw his third of the night, connecting with Logan Childree on a two-yard touchdown.
The Cougars let their foot off the gas from there as plenty of younger players got a chance to play some varsity minutes.
The Stallions scored a couple of touchdowns in the second half to make the final score more respectable, but this game was all Lafayette Christian. A running clock was implemented in the final two quarters as the game ended well before 10 p.m.
It was a much needed win after the Cougars let Pinecrest come into its house and beat them on homecoming last week.
Lafayette Christian improved to 4-1 on the season. The Cougars will have a tough test next Friday when they host Unity.
