Make it six wins in a row for the Grangers. The LaGrange softball team earned a massive region win over Mary Persons on Tuesday, beating the Bulldogs 6-0.

The Grangers quickly jumped out to an early lead when a Carolyne Garcia RBI double broke the deadlock in the bottom of the first.

The LaGrange lead would stay at one run until the top of the fifth inning when Garcia delivered an RBI groundout to double the team’s lead.

The Grangers were not done there as freshman Dakota McDaniel hit an inside the park home run to put LaGrange up 3-0 in the top of the sixth.

McDaniel got the start in the circle where she was also superb, striking out 13 batters while allowing just three hits.

Garcia also came through in a big way for the Grangers. The senior hit a two-run triple and scored a passed ball in the top of the seventh to push the LaGrange lead out to 6-0. Garcia led the offense by going 2-for-4 with four RBIs.

Hudson Wood also had a strong showing from the plate, going 3-for-4.

McDaniel, Jasia Swanson and Tatiana Dudley all had a hit apiece for LaGrange.

The Grangers came into this six-game win streak having lost three in a row, but the team responded in a big way. Five of those six wins were region contests.

LaGrange is now 15-6 overall and 11-3 in region play. The Grangers were set to play Troup on Thursday (that game has been postponed until Oct. 8) and host the LaGrange Toyota Invitational on Friday and Saturday. With inclement weather rolling in, the exact schedule for the tournament is still being finalized.

If LaGrange is unable to play the rest of the week, the team will return to action at home next Monday against Upson-Lee for senior night.
