An annual fall tradition as welcome as changing leaves and pumpkin pie is once again upon us.

The annual Quilters Bazaar is set to return next Saturday.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, Pleasant Grove Community Church will host its annual Quilt Show and  Bazaar and crafts show.  This year marks the 44th year the church has hosted the annual quilting celebration and fundraiser.

The Pleasant Grove quilters hold the event each year to promote fellowship within the community and to show off the goods of local crafters and cooks.

The handmade quilts are the star of the show, including the beautiful one being raffled off but the event will also have delicious barbecue, homemade soup, Brunswick stew and baked goods that have brought locals back every year for decades.

For early risers, sausage and biscuits will be available starting at 8 a.m. Later in the day, visitors can partake in homemade soup, cornbread, barbecue, stew and the quilting crew’s famous fried pies. Stop by for lunch, or just take some barbecue and stew home for dinner or the freezer.

Fresh smoked Boston Butts are available for pre-order by calling (770) 713-4564 to reserve one for pickup.

Each year, the quilters raffle off a handmade quilt, with proceeds going to help pay for church endeavors, including missionary work. The tickets are only $1 each, and the drawing is held at the end of the show at 2 p.m. The winner does not have to be present to win. The raffle tickets can be purchased at the show or by calling (706) 333-9694.

The annual handmade quilt is often a sought-after prize, as each is unique and represents countless hours of work. Even with weekly quilting sessions, the annual quilt takes the group months to complete. Carol Cadenhead, who helps organize the bazaar each year, said this year’s quilt took a team of three about 12 weeks to complete.

The Quilters Bazaar and Barbecue will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Community Church at 170 Pleasant Grove Church Rd. in LaGrange.   For more information or to sign up for a booth, call (706) 884-5546.
