Bobby Moore opened his first Smoothie King 11 years ago after he retired and his brother, who is also a Smoothie King franchisee, presented him with an opportunity to open one in Newnan.

“I jumped on board as I was already into health and fitness,” said Moore, “I thought it would be an easy transition.”

Prior to becoming a franchisee, Moore was a police officer for 20 years in areas such as Chicago, Oklahoma and Mississippi.

Moore and his wife landed in Peachtree City but eventually moved to Tyrone, GA, where they still reside.

Along with a location in Newnan, Moore owns a Smoothie King in Peachtree City, Sharpsburg and now in LaGrange. Keeping it in the family, Moore’s son, Bobby Jr. owns a Smoothie King in Mapleton, GA.

After Moore and his wife scouted different areas for their newest location, they decided LaGrange would be a great area for them to bring a healthier option and additional employment.

“We felt it was a blessing for us to be able to do this,” Moore stated. “Bringing employment and healthier options to the area, we figured this would be incredible.”

There has been a sign on the building for some time without a projected opening date.

Moore said, “There was a lot of renovation work that needed to be done.”

The unit where Smoothie King is located used to be a part of the original Juanito’s location. The inside needed to be remodeled and the patio closed off.

Moore hopes to officially retire in the next 4 years and have his children take over since they already help out.

Smoothie King, also known as the original smoothie bar, has been around since 1973 and became the first smoothie franchise in the U.S. in 1989. They offer original nutritional fresh-blended smoothies, smoothie bowls, healthy retail products such as sports beverages, energy bars, healthy snacks and more to help with a healthier lifestyle.

Smoothie King LaGrange is located at 1510 Lafayette Parkway Ste A3. Hours of operation are Monday to Wednesday and Friday to Saturday 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
