Sheniyah Philpot picked up right where she left off last season, leading the Troup girls basketball team to a 63-41 win over Greenville in the 2024-25 season opener.

It was the Philpot show from the offset as the junior led all scorers with 30 points. She put a marker down early with 10 points in the first quarter and never let up. She did it from all over the court, connecting on four 3-pointers and took 10 free throws as she showed an ability to attack and get to the line.

The Tigers used their suffocating defense to take an early double-digit lead in the first quarter, extending it out to 18-6 after the first quarter. By halftime the Troup lead had swelled 35-14.

The Patriots fought back to make the second half more respectable, but the Tigers remained in command until the final whistle.

Despite Greenville striking back in the second half, Troup still outscored the Patriots 28-27 over the final two quarters of play.

The next highest scorers for Troup in the game were Nasha Daniel with seven points and Ty Buckner and Raygen Godfrey with six points apiece.

Troup starts the season 1-0. The Tigers will travel to Valley (AL) next Tuesday for the second game of the season.
