The LaGrange girls basketball team notched their second region win of the season on Friday, edging out Mary Persons 33-29.
Friday’s victory showed just how far the Grangers have come this season under second-year head coach Mike Pauley. LaGrange lost at Mary Persons 58-40 in early Dec.
The first half on Friday was a miserable showing for both offenses. The Bulldogs would just beat out the Grangers over the first two quarters, taking an 8-7 lead into halftime.
LaGrange had just two scorers in the first half — Madisyn Booker with four points and Peyton Swint with three. The former would end the game with 12 points while the latter would score eight total points.
The second half saw both offenses spark to life. The anemic LaGrange offense that only had two players get in the scoring column in the first half, saw six different players score in the final two quarters.
LaGrange improved to 5-13 overall and 2-8 in region play. A rivalry showdown is next on the docket for the Grangers as they will host Troup at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Tigers won the previous matchup between the two teams this season 59-41.
