The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has LaGrange under a Winter Weather Advisory until 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
The projected chance of snow in LaGrange jumped from 20 percent to 50 percent overnight, though not much snow is expected. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch is projected.
Overnight it’s going to get even colder. LaGrange will be under a Cold Weather Advisory until 9 a.m. Temperatures are expected to drop as low as 12 °F Tuesday night.
NWS projects a 20 percent chance of snow Tuesday night before 8 p.m.
On Wednesday, LaGrange is expected to relatively warm up with a high of 39 °F and an overnight low of 18 °F.
Although LaGrange is not in the Winter Storm Warning area, it is close. Snow accumulations are expected to be highest over west-central Georgia.
Travel impacts are the primary concern with any snow amount. Expect the afternoon and evening commutes Tuesday to be impacted, as well as Wednesday commutes, says the NWS.
Gov. Brian Kemp has declared a State of Emergency for the entire state in anticipation of the arrival of extreme winter weather.
“If you must venture out during this time, please drive with extreme caution,” says GDOT.
