Night to Shine, the annual prom for special needs teens, will be held at Western Heights Baptist Church on Friday.
The event is partially sponsored and promoted by the Tim Tebow Foundation (TTF) but event organizer Amanda Weathers said most of the money for the LaGrange event comes from local donors.
Night to Shine began in 2015 with 44 host churches and 15,000 volunteers honoring more than 7,000 guests with special needs. Since then it has grown to hundreds of churches and more than 100,000 special needs participants.
The event provides a prom night experience for people with special needs, celebrating them and hopefully giving them a great night to remember.
Unlike regular prom, each student is crowned king or queen, Weathers said.
Weathers said this is her first year involved with the event, which has traditionally been held at First Baptist Church on the Square.
“It’s been in LaGrange for six or seven years,” Weathers said. “It’s just to share God’s love and let them know that they’re special and created in God’s image, just like anyone else.”
“We want them to have a special evening to feel special, to feel valued and to feel loved,” she said.
Weathers said they are all set on volunteers but there is still room for guests who want to participate. Registration for guests 14 and up will be open until the day before the event.
The 2025 Night to Shine will be held at Western Heights Baptist Church on Friday, Feb. 7 from 6 to 9 p.m.
