The LaGrange girls basketball team had its best showing of the season on Monday, scoring a season-high in points in a 59-34 win over Spalding.

The game was a true highlight and sign of progress for the Grangers this season. Spalding beat LaGrange 52-45 back on Dec. 17.

The Grangers had one of their best first quarters of the season, outscoring the Jaguars 16-9 to get off on the right foot in the game.

LaGrange never looked back from there and put together a 26-17 lead at the halftime break.

The Grangers would pour it on in the second half, ensuring the game was no longer in doubt long before the final buzzer.

LaGrange outscored Spalding 27-15 over the final two quarters.

For the first time all season, the Grangers scored in double figures in every quarter of play. On the other end of the court, LaGrange did not allow the Jaguars to crack double-digit points in any of the four quarters on Monday.

Madisyn Booker and Kelis Atkinson led the way for the LaGrange offense, scoring 15 points apiece. Morgan Barber and Teyana Payne finished with nine and eight points, respectively.

LaGrange improved to 6-16 and 3-11 in region play. The Grangers will be right back in action on Tuesday and look to win back-to-back games for just the second time this season. LaGrange will be away to Whitewater, a team that the Grangers beat 54-17 at home earlier in the season. LaGrange will host Trinity Christian on Friday in the regular season finale.
