GREENVILLE – Callaway coach Deyano Martin tried every defensive strategy he could think of, but nothing worked.
With sensational junior Brittany Davis delivering a monster 46-point performance, Greenville handled Callaway 75-40 on Saturday in a non-region game.
Davis scored 20 of her points during the third quarter as Greenville outscored Callaway 30-16 to put the game away, and she stayed in the game in the fourth quarter and scored 11 more points.
Callaway hung in there early.
The game was tied 13-13 after the first period, with Callaway’s Chyna Cameron scoring six points.
Greenville outscored Callaway 16-5 in the second period to take a 29-18 lead, and it pulled away in the second half.
Qua Beasley led Callaway with 11 points, KeKe Talley added 10 points, and KiKo Owens and Cameron had seven and six points, respectively.
In Saturday’s boys’ game, it was Greenville outlasting Callaway 64-59.
Callaway’s teams will return to Region 5-AA play on Tuesday with home games against Temple.
