LaGRANGE- Every Saturday at 10 Bailey Road from around 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sims Pond Farm is usually filled with plenty of talented vendors, farmers, producers and people who are in attendance to promote and sell the many products they have produced. On top of that, you’re bound to have a close encounter with farm animals like pigs, roosters and lambs.

This Saturday was no different.

Sims Pond Farm is a farm that is set up like a market where customers can come and go from booth to booth to shop and see what products they might want to purchase. At Sims Pond Farm, the people who have their own booths are there to exhibit their talents and showcase their abilities through the products they sell to the community.

“This farm day is for people who grow, bake and produce things locally,” said Danny Sims, owner of Sims Pond Farm. “They come out and we provide them with a place to promote and sell their products. And people who visit, this is a place they can come and see some of the farm animals we have and just see what we have to offer.”

There’s Deborah Santiago and her daughter, Bianca Martinez’s booth where they have all types of organic products made of natural ingredients and essential oils called Straight From the Dirt on display.

“We have a lot of healthy products like glistening soap, regular soap, soap made with goat milk, body scrubs, foaming hand soap, lip balms, lotion bars, bath and shower oils and bath balms,” said Santiago. “They’re all self-care stuff and little by little we add to it.”

There’s Dip & Dap Wood Krafts by Bob Horn and Carolyn Horn, who produce a mixture of unique handcrafted pieces like bowls, lamps, vases, cutting boards, corkscrews, lazy susans, spoons and chip and dip trays.

“We’ve been doing this since 2007,” said Carolyn Horn. “My husband does the woodturning and everything is made by us in our workshop.”

You have the daughter-mother tandem of Tara Shimandle and Judy Shimandle flaunting everything from their Weave Bin Twisted items such as bracelets, earrings, head bands, bath sponges, wire wrapped jewelry and much more.

Want to fill up on some delicious sweet foods?

Then Amy’s Catering run by Amy May and her daughter Lexi Cindrick will do just that with their homemade cream cheese bars, buttermilk pie, apple pound cake, brownies, fried apple pies and much more. While you are there, their sweet tea is worth the taste, too.

If you’re in need of some native plants, rare plants or old-fashioned plants to garden, Shady Gardens Nursery can provide that for you.

If you’re interested in a wide variety of jellies and jams (pepper, mixed berry, fresh blackberry, apple), cakes (lemon, coca-cola, orange), chocolate chip cookies, almond torte (made out of almond, sugar and butter), and much more, then definitely see Freita Browning of Frieta’s Fancies.

You won’t be disappointed.

If you’re looking for vegetables plants, Master Gardener Patrick Bexton of Patrick’s Garden has all kinds from squash, English peas, chard, basil, tomatoes, cilantro and sunflowers.

There’s a little bit for everyone at Sim’s Pond Farm.
