Shirley Faye Maddox passed away Thursday at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center.

She was born September 6, 1944, to the late, George Rolling, Sr. and Mary Q. Rolling of LaGrange, Georgia.

Shirley became partner in marriage to Mr. Ernest J. Maddox, Sr. in 1967. To this union, nine children were loved and reared.

She was employed by Milliken’s Calumet Plant and Twin Fountain Nursing home for many years until her retirement.

Shirley joined Confidence Missionary Baptist Church in LaGrange, Georgia and was faithful to Mother’s Ministry and served until her health declined.

Survivors include her children, Montest (Carlton) Cameron, Gaylord Lay, Cynthia Maddox, Irvin (Lisa) Maddox, Dionne Maddox, Tanya Maddox, and Kathy Maddox; fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; brothers, Roger R. Rolling and Bobby Rolling; brothers-in-law, Fred Joe Maddox and Willie T. (Vernice) Maddox; sisters-in-law, Frances E. Maddox and Dorothia (Ellee) Gay; special friends whom she held dear to her heart; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday at 1:00 PM at New Community Church. Pastor Michael Jackson will officiate. Burial will follow at Southview Cemetery.
