Personnel at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center called the LaGrange Police Department when a man showed up with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim arrived at the emergency room just after 3:00 a.m. on Sunday.

The man and a juvenile accomplice initially told police they were walking along Mason Street when a red car drove by.

The two denied hearing any gunshots, but realized one was hit by a bullet, the report stated.

A friend allegedly drove the pair to the hospital.

LPD officers noted the victim had a single gunshot wound on the inner portion of his leg. The also noticed the bullet did not puncture any of the man’s clothing and there was no exit wound, according to the report.

LPD investigators later determined the incident was an accidental shooting and the man was injured because he was careless with a weapon, the report said.

Woman arrested in fake prescription scam

One woman remains behind bars for taking forged prescriptions to various pharmacies around LaGrange and getting them filled.

The woman, identified as Ayeesha Rashadeen, 19, was caught when she went back to the Walgreens at 115 Vernon Street on Sunday to pick up two of the fake prescriptions.

Pharmacists inside Walgreens immediately noticed the prescription Rashadeen dropped off was fake and called the doctor’s office to confirm it, the report said. The pharmacists then called the LaGrange Police Department.

When Rashadeen tried to pick up the medicine, LPD officers were waiting for her.

The woman reportedly admitted she knew the prescriptions were forged, the report read.

Rashadeen told police three males brought her to LaGrange in a black sedan and had more forged prescriptions in the car.

Officers checked the Walgreen’s video surveillance system and confirmed the woman was dropped off in a black car, the report said.

Rashadeen also told investigators she and the men visited the CVS on Morgan Street, Walmart on New Franklin Road and the Walmart Neighborhood Market on LaFayette Parkway to get prescriptions filled.

During the police interview, one of the men allegedly called the woman and said they were not coming back for her, the report stated.

Rashadeen was charged with felony forgery in the first degree and possession of a schedule 5 controlled substance.

Theft from business

A construction worker discovered on Sunday someone stole steps leading to the new Nissan of LaGrange building at 1075 Lafayette Parkway.

The worked told LaGrange Police officers four metal steps that were welded into place and six wooden steps were missing from the facility.

The worth of the steps was estimated around $478.
