Road work sign of progress

It’s easy to get aggravated at all of the road construction going on around town. It’s human nature to get upset when trucks and construction workers slow your daily commute, or add an unexpected stop as you drive home after a long day.
Right now in LaGrange, there seems to be road work going on all over the city. It’s really telling that when we talk about the road work in the office, the first response is usually “which construction?”
That’s not true of most cities, especially cities the size of LaGrange, and we should be excited — not stressed or frustrated — by that work.
Sections of State Route 109, which includes LaFayette Parkway, are expected to be completed by the end of June. State Route 1, which includes New Franklin, is expected to be completed by the end of July. Another GDOT project on Vernon Road had a completion date listed for the end of May but had high traffic areas complete in April and is finished now.
All of that construction work is a sign of progress, as is the work being completed on the Courtyard by Marriott hotel downtown and all of the buildup to the Great Wolf Lodge. There’s a lot happening right now in LaGrange, and that’s a great thing for everyone.
It’s understandable to be ready for the road work to be completed, but the current projects are steadily getting completed. Let’s be patient while they’re ongoing and be thankful for the work and construction being done.
When it’s all finished, it’s going to make LaGrange an even better place to live and work.
