A student at LaGrange College returned from class Monday to find her car had been burglarized.

The incident occurred sometime between 4:45 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. According to the police report, the student’s 2003 red Ford Focus had a broken window and several items were stolen — including a tote bag valued at $150, a Samsung cell phone valued at $150, a Samsung Note tablet valued at $500 and a Macbook Pro, which was valued at $1,100.

The value of the items is estimated to be $1,900.

A second possible theft incident had also occurred earlier in the day at LaGrange College as well.

A man interviewing for a position was allegedly caught going through an employee’s purse. The man stated he had dropped something in the purse and was getting it out, but when the employee mentioned calling the police the man left.

It is unclear if the incidents are related in any way.

The LaGrange Police Department is investigating both incidents.
Home burglarized on Stonewall Street

A woman returned to her home Monday on the 1000 block of Stonewall Street, only to find it had been burglarized while she was gone.

The woman said she left her house and was at another nearby residence when her boyfriend called to let her know the house had been “ransacked” and that her television was missing, according to the police report.

Furniture was flipped, drawers and cupboards opened and items were tossed around the house, according to the report.

Items missing included a 52-inch Vivo TV, valued at $252, a 43-inch Vivo television, which was valued at $120, a gold watch and the cable box and remote from her living room.

The case remains open for investigation.
Wallet with over $1,000 inside goes missing

The LaGrange Police Department is investigating a walk-in report that occurred at 6:02 p.m. Monday afternoon.

A man told officers he and several friends were at the Summit on West Point Road on June 17, according to the report. After he left the location, he realized he could not find his wallet, which included around $1,182 in cash.

The man’s driver’s license and social security card were also in his wallet.
Burglary on Bell Street

The LaGrange Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred on Bell Street at 2:41 p.m. on Monday.

A woman said her residence was broken into for the second time this month, according to the report. She said a 34-inch Vizio TV, valued at $100, was stolen and so was a HP Pavilion laptop priced at $300. The woman had left to run errands at around 10:30 a.m. that morning.

The LaGrange Police Department is still investigating this incident.
Man allegedly steals from Kroger

A man was arrested for allegedly stealing from both Wal-Mart and Kroger on Monday afternoon.

At 1:05 p.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to Wal-Mart on New Franklin Road in reference to a shoplifting. The store’s loss prevention manager said that the suspect, a 58-year-old, tried to leave the store with items totaling $294.21 in his shopping cart.

There is video of the incident, according to the police report. The man left in a cab headed toward Kroger on Commerce Avenue, where officers located him.

When officers pulled up at Kroger, they found him allegedly removing items from a grocery cart and placing them into a business next door. Officers noted that the man had placed three slabs of Kroger ribs, valued at $30, inside of Wal-Mart shopping bags.

All of the ribs were still cold. He also had two containers of Gain laundry detergent.

The man said he had Kroger items inside Wal-Mart bags because he had purchased the items from an unknown subject in the parking lot of Kroger at a discounted rate via food stamps.

Two additional packs or ribs and two large packs of Charmin tissue were also taken from the business the man was seen going into.
