Quan Bray, the former Troup County prep star who is heading into his third season in the NFL, is hosting a free youth football camp this weekend at Harris County High’s football stadium.
The camp, which is for boys and girls in the sixth grade through eighth grade, will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, and registration will take place at the stadium at 9 a.m.
Bray will be joined by a number of collegiate and professional players, including TaQuon Marshall, a Harris County graduate and a running back at Georgia Tech.
The Fundamental Skills Camp is part of the Quan Bray All-Purpose Foundation.
Bray, who played at Callaway High for three years before transferring to Troup for his senior season, went on to play at Auburn for four years before he was signed by the Indianapolis Colts as a non-drafted free agent in 2015.
Bray became the Colts’ full-time kick returner after he was promoted from the practice squad midway through the 2015 season.
Bray’s 2016 season was cut short because of an injury, but he was signed to an extension in the offseason, and he’ll likely be returning kicks and catching passes for the Colts when a new season begins in September.
Bray regularly speaks to youth groups and helps out at camps, and during an assembly at Callaway Elementary School earlier this year, he talked about the importance of steadfastly setting out to achieve your goals.
“Even before middle school, I told myself, I was going to be an NFL player,” Bray said. “Right here, from this school, from this community, I told myself I was going to be that. And with that, I prepared myself to achieve that amount of success, knowing what I’m getting myself into, knowing that I’ve got to wake up at a certain amount of time to go to school, to do what I was planning out to do, to do what the teachers had me doing.”
