HOGANSVILLE – It’s another step in the process.

The Callaway Cavaliers, who began their offseason program in early January, continued the process of getting ready for a new season when they held their first full-contact practice on Tuesday afternoon.

Callaway is gearing up for a season that begins on Aug. 18 against LaGrange.

Callaway will be in Hogansville on Aug. 11 for a preseason game against Northside-Columbus.

For Callaway, it’s all about the process.

Each stage of the offseason is carefully scripted, leading up to Tuesday’s practice in full pads.

“We had a good practice,” Callaway head coach Pete Wiggins said. “The first day with pads on, I thought it was intense. The kids were excited, and I thought they had good energy today. There are things we have to do better at, but overall I felt good about today.”

Callaway will maintain its afternoon schedule leading up to the preseason game against Northside.

Then a week after that, it’ll be time for a new season as the Cavaliers look to build on the success they enjoyed a year ago.

Callaway went 13-1 in 2016, and it reached the Class AA semifinals before falling to eventual state champion Benedictine.
