LaGrange resident Deshawn Demarcus Williams Maddox, 25, was arrested by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old female.

Sgt. Stewart Smith said in an email that Maddox is charged with rape and is currently in the Troup County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.

The one-time incident was reported on Aug. 12 to a deputy, Smith said.

“It was reported to a deputy who took the report and referred it to our investigators,” he said.

Maddox was arrested at the sheriff’s office, he said.

Smith said Maddox does not have any previous charges in the Troup County Sheriff’s Office records.
