Local runners compete at state

CARROLLTON – The cross-country season came to a close on Saturday, with runners from LaGrange and Callaway participating in the state meet in Carrollton.
LaGrange’s boys’ team finished 13th, with Alex Bowie leading the way.
Bowie, a sophomore, posted a time of 18 minutes, five seconds on the 3.1-mile course to finish 31st.
Next for LaGrange was Joshua Turman (18:40) in 60th place, and John McDonald (19:18) was
88th.
Cameron Thomas (19:36), Logan Lopez (19:39), Matthew Callaway (19:52) and Donta Dunson (20:09) were LaGrange’s other runners.
Anna Doerr (24:37) was LaGrange’s top runner, and she helped her team finish 23rd.
Chloe Morman (24:59) was next for LaGrange, and she was followed by Zenay Rhaney (25:26), Zamya Rhaney (26:15), Mary Claire Bakarich (26:23), Brianna Stansbury (27:23) and Mary Beth Callaway (33:22).
Callaway participated in the Class AA state meet, and Ian Daughtery (20:44) led his team.
Next were Hayden Taylor (23:35), Jayvon Nunley (24:36) and Jalhwan Nunley (28:00).
