Michael Veltman II, 48, was arrested for amphetamine possession and possession of a drug related object outside the Wendy’s on Lafayette Parkway Saturday at 8:45 a.m.

According to the police report, officers were familiar with the van because of recent calls about it and its owner in the city. The Wendy’s manager told police the van was parked outside the business at 6 a.m. and was using the store’s electrical outlet without permission.

While talking to the manager, Veltman got out of the van and as he opened the door, officers noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the van, according to the police report. Officers searched the van and found a glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine in it along with a blow torch and a digital scale that had a small amount of marijuana residue on it.

Veltman was also charged with theft of services.

$1,230 worth of items taken from car

A car was broken into and $1,230 worth of items taken from it at the 100 block of Green Street between Saturday at 11:30 p.m. and Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

The owner told police an Apple MacBook valued at $1,000, two college textbooks valued at $60 each, two calculators and school supplies valued at $30 and a bookbag valued at $80 were taken.

The owner told police that his vehicle was also ransacked.

Vehicle broken into, BB gun 

pieces found

A vehicle’s driver side-window was allegedly damaged at the Tall Pines Apartments Saturday around 10:20 p.m.

The owner told police his daughter looked out of his apartment window and saw the damage. According to the police report, an officer noticed pieces of a plastic handle from a BB gun was found inside the car.

The man told police he had recently been shot with a BB gun by juveniles at the complex.

Truck scratched in 

A truck was allegedly scratched all over at a residence on Cary Street between Thursday at 10 p.m. and Friday at 10 a.m.

The owner told police that she had been working on the residence and when she returned, she noticed scratches on the tailgate and then all sides of the truck. According to the police report, an officer noticed that the name Chad was scratched in twice by the tailgate.

The woman said she does not know anyone with that name.
