On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express congratulations former Coweta Judicial Circuit District Attorney Peter J. “Pete” Skandalakis on his recent appointment to serve as executive director of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia.

In his new position, Mr. Skandalakis will benefit from his 33 years of experience as a criminal prosecutor, including the past 25 years as district attorney for Carroll, Coweta, Heard, Meriwether and Troup counties, during which time he served as president of the District Attorneys Association of Georgia and as board chairman of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council.

He received the Georgia District Attorney of the Year in 2007.

The Prosecuting Attorneys’ provides valuable training and other resources to Georgia’s district attorneys, solicitors general and municipal prosecuting attorneys. Mr. Skandalakis’ acceptance of the executive director’s position is evidence of his continued commitment to serving the public and the justice system.

We wish him well in a new capacity of statewide leadership.
