They’re still perfect where it counts.
The LaGrange Lady Grangers used a suffocating pressure defense to overwhelm Cedartown 38-27 on Saturday afternoon to stay unbeaten in Region 5-AAAA.
The Lady Grangers (11-9 overall) remained in first place with a 7-0 region record, and they have five games remaining as they look to nail down the top seed heading into the region tournament.
Senior guard Aryan Dozier did a lot of the offensive damage for LaGrange against Cedartown with 22 points, and Chnaireia Strozier added nine points.
The game was tied 10-10 early in the second quarter when LaGrange took control.
The Lady Grangers scored 10 consecutive points to build a 20-10 lead, and they were ahead 24-12 at the half.
Dozier keyed the second-quarter surge with nine points, and she scored 15 points in the opening half.
The Lady Grangers remained in control in the third quarter, with Strozier scoring five points to help her team take a 35-20 lead.
LaGrange was limited to three points in the fourth quarter, but it didn’t matter since Cedartown was unable to get anything going offensively.
LaGrange has three key games coming up this week, all on the road, including a showdown at Sandy Creek between the region’s top two teams.
LaGrange plays Cartersville on Tuesday, Troup on Friday, and Sandy Creek on Saturday.
