COLUMBUS – The Callaway Cavaliers improved to 4-1 with a 3-0 road win over Hardaway on Tuesday.

Wesley Marchman got the start for Callaway, and the sophomore was sharp, throwing five scoreless innings to get the win.

“Wesley located well today,” Callaway head coach Dusty Hubbard said. “He threw his changeup and his fastball really well. The biggest thing was he was able to locate his fastball. He got out of some jams early.”

Outfielder Bryce Kurian helped Marchman get out of one of those jams.

In the early innings, Hardaway had runners on first and second when Kurian chased down a ball at the fence and made the catch, saving two runs.

Callaway scored two of its runs in the fourth inning.

With two men on, Kurian drove in a run with a bunt, and another run scored on an error.

Kyle Campbell added an RBI single in the seventh inning to cap the scoring.

Chandler Lott threw two scoreless innings to get the save.

Callaway will host Troup on Thursday. Last season, Troup beat Callaway 2-1 in extra innings

LAGRANGE: LaGrange scored a run in the top of the fifth to pull even, but Northside took the lead with a run in the bottom of the inning, and it added an insurance run in the sixth inning on the way to a 6-4 victory.

Wesley Kuhn had a big day for LaGrange with two hits and two RBIs, and Trent Bailey had a hit and an RBI.

Seth Prather, Will Alford and Brant Williams each had one hit.

Charles Crawford was LaGrange’s starting pitcher and he threw 3 1/3 innings, and Ben Stogner finished things off with 2 2/3 innings.

LaGrange will host Columbus today as it looks for its first win of the season after four losses.
