Adopt a friend on Saturday

On Saturday, the LaGrange Troup County Humane Society will host a mobile adoption event at Wild Leap Brew Co.
We understand that the decision to adopt a pet is a serious choice that requires planning and deep thought, but we encourage anyone who is already thinking adopting a dog to consider adopting one from the humane society.
The dogs from the humane society are spayed or neutered, microchipped, up to date on rabies and other vaccinations, have been tested for heartworms and have a free 30-day trial of pet insurance. Additionally, mixed breed dogs like those often found at the humane society generally face fewer genetic disorders than purebred dogs, according to the Institute of Canine Biology.
Perhaps the most important consideration of all though, is the prospect of bringing a new “friend” home. What person can matched the unbridled enthusiasm of a dog’s greeting?
Also, since many of the humane society dogs come from the LaGrange Animal Shelter there is a good chance that adopting a dog will save the life of a dog who might be euthenized once the animal shelter becomes over crowded.
If you are still on the fence about adoption though, take your time. As we’ve said, it is a very serious decision that should not be rushed into.
If you are ready to adopt though, the mobile adoption event will take place at Wild Leap Brew Co. from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Adoption fees are $75. To learn more about the LaGrange Troup County Humane Society, visit Lagrangehumane.org.
