Joe Atcherson

The celebration of life service for Mr. Joe I. Atcherson of LaGrange will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Pyne Road. Overseer Gary Fanning and the Rev. Robert Talley will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Atcherson, a native of LaGrange, was born Feb. 15, 1955, and was the son of the late William P. Atcherson and Ada Boyd Atcherson. He was a 1972 graduate of Troup High School and Troup Technical School where he received certificate in carpentry and appliance repair. He was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Joe’s hobby was collecting antiques. He enjoyed playing golf and was self-taught to play the harmonica and piano.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his twin children, Michael (Nedra) Atcherson; Michelle (Quinton) Cameron; grandchildren, Alicia and Myles, Michael Joseph Atcherson Jr., Sedriauna Simpson, Jeremiah Simpson; siblings, Peggy Perry, John Richard Atcherson and Horace Cofield; aunts, Annell Lindsey, Grace Huzzie, Rebecca Atchison, Emma L. Boyd; many sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Mary Lou Boyd; paternal grandparents: Charlie and Susie Atcherson; brothers: Charlie, William Larry, and Adell Atcherson; and beloved mate, Carolyn Blackmon.
The family will be at their home at 110 Timothy Street.
