On Tuesday, we wrote about Publix donating more than $7,000 worth of food items to LaGrange Personal Aid.

The food went toward the Interfaith Food Closet, which is operated by volunteers from local churches.

Before the food closet received the donations Monday, it had only two carts full of food left.

We’re appreciate that the community raised so much during the food drive. This will help many in LaGrange.

While donations and food drives end, hunger does not. According to Feeding America’s website, 41 million people face hunger in the United States.

In a previous interview, attorney Brett Adams said about 12,900 Troup County citizens are food insecure, having limited access to a sufficient amount of nutritious food. About 8,000 local students are eligible for free meals and may not have food when out of school for the summer, Adams said.

Donations are always welcome at food banks and are appreciated by those who do not know where their next meal is coming from.

If you can, consider donating to one of the local food donations when there isn’t a drive happening. There will always be a need.
