Man arrested for alleged stabbing

A LaGrange man was arrested for stabbing another person in the arm on East Depot Street Saturday. According to a LaGrange Police Department police report, Leonard Birt, 69, cut his girlfriend in arm with a steak knife.
The victim was found several houses down and was transported to the hospital for her injuries, according to the police report.
According to Troup County Jail arrest/release records, Birt was charged with aggravated assault-knife/cutting tool
Copper used for radio station stolen
Copper wiring used for WTRP at 806 New Franklin Road was allegedly stolen between Wednesday and Sunday. According to the police report, the radio station went off air Wednesday during a broadcast at 3 p.m.
The station manager told police that he and another employee walked to the wood line behind the station Sunday at 11:30 a.m. The manager said the copper casing was dug up, but the copper itself was missing.
The manager told police that replacing the copper and areas affected by it would cost $5,000. The manager said he found a winch puller in the area.
Residences burglarized
Two residences were allegedly burglarized in separate incidents Friday.
The first burglary occurred between 7 a.m. at 7:45 a.m. at the 100 block of Laurel Ridge Avenue West. The resident told police her side door was kicked in, and her flat screen television was moved and her kitchen was ransacked.
According to the police report, the resident said the only thing missing was her driver’s license.
In a separate incident, an apartment at Cameron Crossing Apartments on Meadow Terrace was allegedly burglarized between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The resident told police a large mirror had been removed from a wall in the living room and placed up against a chair, the curtains on the sliding door had been closed, the windows in the back bedroom were missing the screens, one of the walls in the back bedroom had a small hole in it and her cellphone valued at $900 was missing. The resident told police she noticed cigarette butts and dirt bike tracks next to her patio.
Man arrested for amphetamine possession
A Warm Springs man was arrested Saturday in LaGrange for multiple warrants and amphetamine possession. According to the police report, an officer found 29-year-old Thomas Cuddington, who had multiple warrants through Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office, at Fair Street and Hill Street.
Officers had been searching for him in reference to a dirt bike riding in the roadway.
According to the police report, an officer approached Cuddington and told him to put his hands up. Cuddington jumped a fence and ran before police stopped him on Fair Street.
Cuddington was then arrested. While searching his person, police found a bag containing suspected methamphetamine.
According to Troup County Jail arrest/release reports, Cuddington is charged with amphetamine possession, obstruction, operating vehicle without headlights/lights requirement, failure to show proof of insurance riding a motorcycle without a helmet and operating a vehicle without a driver’s license. His bond is $9,000.
8-year-olds charged for alleged burglary
Two 8-year-old boys were charged for allegedly entering a house using a credit card and stealing food Friday. According to the police report, a neighbor saw the two boys enter a house on the 900 block of Kissler Street around 6:30 p.m.
Police arrived at the scene and talked to the neighbor and two boys. The boys were found with ice cream, granola bars and chips valued at $5, according to the police report.
The homeowner was not at the residence during the burglary, according to the police report.
The officer completed juvenile complaint form and witness list on the juveniles, who were then released to their parents, according to the police report.
